What are we doing?
We will dedicate ouserlves foremost to 2 orphanages in and near Yaoundé. We will be teaching German and English there, as well as providing information regarding HIV/AIDS, several sportactivities and we will organise the weekly program.| In addition we will be actively involved in establishing a new centre for streetchildren in Yaoundé. This centre will be opened in September and streetchildren will be taught basic skills and knowledge there. |
What are the local needs?
To be able to contribute substantively to the well being of the orphins and streetchildren in Yaoundé we ask you for a contribution. We have been able to determine these local needs already:
- School clothing/attributes: There are 40 children in the project of CAPEC that desperately want to go to school. Unfortunately, they are not able to due to lack of; books, workbooks, uniforms, sandals and the fact that they can not pay the tuition fee. For a total of 150,- we are able to supply a child with this.
- Computers; in the centre for streetchildren there is a need for computers. These computers will be used to provide the children with ICT-skills to give them a better chance on the job-market. A secondhand computer costs 150,-
- Computers and sawingmachines; the orphanages also have a shortage of computers. In addition, they need sawingmachines to provide the older children with useful skills.
- Painting-material; For the creative activities in the orphanages there is a strong need for paint and brushes. The children often perform exercises in which they need this material. However, often they can not paint due to the shortage in material.
- clothing and linen; The orphanage has a structural shortage in linen and clothing for the children.
- Medicins and hospital equipment; CAPEC owns a empty hospital. This is due to a lack of equipment and medicins. We will specify the exact need for these products later, as well as the amount needed for this.
